Love letter
Due to technology, bible scripture is at our fingertips, many translations and interpretations. His Word is our clear instruction for life, but more, His Word is His love letter to us. Yet we often seek His Word last on our daily agenda. We rarely seek His wisdom when we need an answer.
Pslam 46:1-3 (MSG) reads, “God is a safe place to hide, ready to help when we need him. 2 We stand fearless at the cliff-edge of doom, courageous in a sea storm and earthquake, 3 Before the rush and roar of oceans, the tremors that shift mountains, Jacob-wrestling God fights for us, God of angel armies protect us.”
Many people have a good Idea what goal achievement requires. What we fail to remember is that we are never alone when facing life’s challenges. 3 John 1:2 (MSG) reads, “We’re the best of friends, and I pray for good fortune in everything you do, and for your good health-that your everyday affairs prosper, as well as your soul!” Our souls are our minds, wills and emotions. If we can get our minds on board we have conquered the battle, now onward to the war for our well-being.
When I speak of getting our minds on board with our program for change, I’m not thinking mind over matter. According to Jamieson, et. al., (2012) “Researchers have theorized that changing the way we think about our bodily responses can improve our physiological and cognitive reactions to stressful events.” Where Is the evidence on the long term efficacy of mind over matter?
God’s Word is over 2 thousand years old. His Word has lasting effects on our bodies when we embrace what it says about us. Faith is believing what the Word of God says about us in spite of our circumstances. His Word calls us to renew our minds with the Word of God. This means that we are to think of our selves as our creator thinks of us. God loves us dearly. God wants the best for us.
Romans 12:2 (MSG), “Don’t become so well adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking. Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out. Readily recognize what He wants from you, and quickly respond to it. Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.”
