Now What America???

Now that Trump’s Right Wing misinformation strategy has been successful. NOW WHAT?? How did the majority of America buy into his approach to appeal to every fear of the American people? He did not run on policy but the provication of Fear. White fear of boarder control and immigration crime. Misinformation connecting immigration to crime and the percived insecurity of a unstable economy.

Mass deportation, what a joke. It would require exponential capital to promote this initiative, requiring manpower of various law enforcement agencies. No American wants crime but most immigrants are not criminals. America is a nation founded on imagration. FEAR is the Trump agenda and some of you bought it hook line and sinker.

Fear in the  young black male population,  under age 50. Trump portrays himself as a convicted felon that is affected by injustice and tried to align himself with the open injustice that many men of color are experiencing. Did his platform address this injustice? NO, just more disinformation. Did he address prohibited voting with felony convictions? NO! Yet a felon can occupy the highest office in the nation. Did he address his platform to reimplement policies which impinge on the rights of black men, like “stop and frisk”? NO! Instilling FEAR was his agenda; proposing democratic policies may not openly address needs of young black men. Wade through the muck people!

Trump misrepresented the values of women, stating that he did not place a ban on abortion rights, when we know Roe vs Wade protected women’s rights to reproductive health care, which he proudly pronounced its revocation. Trump spews an abundance of untruths which deters the listener from wading through the muck to seek truth.

Additionally, his appeal to Evangelical Christians on the same measure, pro-life. Life far encompasses more than life in the womb. True advocation for life is the promotion of health and well being, in pregnant mothers throughout gestation, children’s rights, including education, healthy meals in schools, safe and affordable child care, and not least, national abolition of the death penalty. These American concerns are not on Trump’s agenda nor included in project 2025.

Trump effectively distanced himself and his candidacy from project 2025 because of the radical agenda to regress the rights of American People, external to White Supremacy’s violence and revelry. However, we witnessed his alliance in the January 6, 2020 insurrection and 2024 campaign. He made it clear that he embraces values of white supremacists. America, how can you ignore his actions?

He is constructing his presidential cabinet with his loyalists. Matt Gaetz for which the Justice Department investigated for sex trafficking allegations. Pete Hegseth, nominated to lead the defense department, who like Trump, paid off a woman, who accused him of sexual assault in 2017. Qualificatons are not important, only Trump loyalty.

Moreover, voter suppression, unfortunately played a role in this election. 2021 was a banner year for new barriers to voting rights. This analysis, authored by Stuart Baum and Wil Wilder, entitled 5 Egregious Voter Suppression Laws from 2021, cited nineteen states that enacted thirty-four laws restricting access to voting. These laws varied in range from a law packaging several measures with diverse subjects, including multiple restrictive provisions, to single subject laws that created less obvious burdens but inconveniences to dissuade voters. These laws impede the voting process, opposing voting by mail, voter ID allocation at polling places, voter roll maintenance, and early voting in some states; as well as, imposing voter promotion limitations on election officials.

What can can we do now to protect our democracy? While the 2024 election was paramount, the 2026 election is just as important. The members of the House of representatives serve year terms. All 435 U.S. Representative seats were up for election and will be again in 2026. The senate however serves 6 years. The elections for the Senate are staggered over the even years, so that only 1/3 of the Senate is reelected during any election. As a result, in this election, Republicans are dominating both the House and Senate, a triple threat.  Democrats lost the House by 6 seats for the next two years. Recall the Obama administration, the house had democratic control in the presidential election year, then 2 years later the Republican dominated the House and limited his abilities? Our nation is so polarized that we cannot work together.

What can we do about this?  Start working now with organizations that advocate for civil rights. In Stacy Abrams’s podcast called, “Assembly Required”,” she identifies new strategies for future elections. Volunteer for community organizations that are working on policy issues. e.g. “Indivisible, Working America, unitedway.org”.

The Defiant Lawyers Network is another advocate for civil rights.

As Vice President Kamala Harris coined, “When we fight we win.” The fight is not over! Join our ancestors in the fight, America!

While we fight, rely on One faithful and true.  He fights our battles and give us the strength to accomplish justice. Our imperative in the fight is knowing our source. The above references are resources, but we have a strong foundation in our Father. Our ancestors relied on this same source, the same today, yesterday and forever more.

Therefore, we will not fall apart because our hopes were not realized. We know,  23 ”The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in Him; 24 though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his righteous right hand.” Psalms 37:23c-24 | NIV

27 “Turn from evil and do good; then you will dwell in the land forever. 28 For the Lord loves the just and will not forsake his faithful ones (another translation says, “the Lord loves Justice“). Wrong doers will be completely destroyed; the offspring of the wicked will perish. 29 The righteous will inherit the land and dwell in it forever.” Psalms 37:27c-29 | NIV

1 “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain.” Psalms 127:1 | NIV

God brought us through president 45 and if He did it before, He will do it again.
