The Almighty Dependable God
Dependable-Almighty God you are available to us 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year and in leap year 366 days. You exemplify the concept of being “on call”. Thank you, almighty dependable God. We do not deserve your detailed attention; You give because of your dependable and faithful love! Your desire is to commune with us. This was your intention when you designed us, as You walked and talked in the Garden of Eden with your first creation. God wants to walk with us today. Father, we invite you into the details of our lives because you are faithful, we can trust and depend on you.
Our God never slumbers or sleeps. “I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? 2 My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. 3 He will not let your foot slip—he who watches over you will not slumber; —he will watch over your life; 8 the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.” Psalms 121:1-3, 8 | NIV
Our God has devoted his wisdom, love, joy, kindness, patience and attention to every detail of our lives, granted as we ask. This is one prayer that He is assured to honor. He answers us with yes and we respond Amen, so be it. Paul writes to the church of Corinth, 20 “For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen” is spoken by us to the glory of God. 21 Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, 22 set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come.” 2 Corinthians 1:18-22 | NIV
Love lifted me is a Well-known hymn, written by James Rowe in 1912. God is attentive to our good days and our not so good days. To live in His universe, we require help. We have options, live our lives under our own merit and strength, depend on humanity for assistance and advice, or trust the wisdom of our almighty God who is reliable in every situation we face. The author writes of emotional hopelessness, drowning in an ocean of despair. Only God can save us at this level of despair; He came to us from Heaven just to redeem us. His desire is to be with us always, so he left his Spirit to live in and with us. 16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” John 3:16-17 | NIV
I was sinking deep in sin
Far from the peaceful shore
Very deeply stained within
Sinking to rise no more
But the master of the sea
Souls in danger look above
Jesus completely saves
He will lift you by his love
Out of the angry waves
But the master of the sea
Billows His will obey
He your savior wants to be
Be saved today
Love lifted me! Love lifted me!
When nothing else could help
Love lifted me
Love lifted me! Love lifted me!
When nothing else could help
Love lifted me
A devotional writing “Without despair there is no need for hope, without darkness there is no need for the hope of light, and without death there is no need for life renewal.” In you Jesus we have life eternal, renewed life. Thank you for being our dependable God!
Jonathan McReynolds wrote, in his lyrical truth, “ Overrated”. Strong is overrated, so for once, I’ll Just lean on You and let you do what you do, God. You show up like I wish I could. Maybe weakness is for my good. Dreams are not guaranteed; nor are breath, movement, or life guaranteed. God steps in to prove that He has no limits, but for humanity, strong is overrated.”
Paul continues to the church of Corinth, “Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. 8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. 9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” 2 Corinthians 12:7c-9 | NIV
Father, we trust your Spirit as the guide for our lives. Without you, we can do nothing and without you, we are nothing. You, are our strength and the song in our hearts. 11 “I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:11-13 | NIV Thank you, our Almighty-Dependable God!
